A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Electronics mount plate ideas

Hey guys, I have an '82 GS550 that is currently getting an engine upgrade. While the engine is out, I decided to take care of some of the electronics. I ordered an SH775 series regulator to replace the stock one. However, as anyone who's seen one knows, it's quite a bit bigger than the factory unit.

I'm looking for mounting ideas. I don't think it will fit in the stock location. I'm also going with some K&N twin pod filters so I wouldn't mode getting ride of the factory air filter box. Has anyone crafted their own mounting plate for the starter solenoid, fuse box, etc and if so, could you post a link?

Thanks,
sci85

Here is what i did

Here is what i did

My R/R Mounts underneath the battery box...I took the battery box out, and measured the width of the new holes on the R/R...Then I took it to a local weld shop and for 15 bucks the guy moved one of the posts so the new R/R would mount there...I don't know how yours is but it was a simple solution..

Just a temporary fix....

But something similar would be good if you finished it up nice.

You could upgrade to a Dyna S ignition & eliminate the igniter.
Then mount the regulator/rectifier where the igniter was.

Good ideas guys. I like the plate idea.

Not keen on spending the money for a dyna s when I already have electronic ignition that works, but might consider it at some point.
