A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Quick question for those in the know....

'84 GS1150EF, stock engine. We installed a Yosh 4-1 header and pipe, and last night removed the stock airbox and silencer to install some EMGO filter pods.

Before everyone starts hollerin,I ordered the Dynojet kit 3133, it doesn't arrive till Monday. (couldn't wait to install the pods, they look so cool)

My question is, because I can't find an answer, do the EMGO pods need to be oiled like the K&N's or run them the way they came outa the box?

That's what I thought.

Just wanna say, great site, tons of great info and tips. When the snow starts to fly around here DBB is goin on the hoist for some major upgrades. I will be taking advantage of others experience and advise on this site.

Emgo pods get panned by people that know better. Ape pods are the best cheap alternative to K&N's.

No, there's no reason to oil them, they don't filter anything anyway. Nor do they flow any air. They do look badass keeping moths and mice out of your carburetors.

Returned the EMGO's, sprang for the K&N kit.
Installed the dynojet kit as per the instructions, but didn't mess with the pilot jets for now. Valves were spot on spec, and after letting fuel get into the bowls the old girl started up and ran great. I ran the mixture screws out 2.5 turns for now, and buttoned up a few other minor things at the same time an went for a ride around the country block.
2 miles out, I thought I was running outa gas, duh, the vent tube came off the petcock.
I gotta say, what a difference! Loud, but it pulls like a mack truck and sounds fantastic from 4500 on up, sounds similar to the sweet spot on a big block chev when the cam comes in. It's never sounded so good, or ran so hard.
Lined up beside my friends gsxr1100, and if it wasn't for high stargazing (front wheel straight up) off the line, I know it woulda been a good run.
#2 stopped firing properly on the way home, so we've got tome tinkering to do yet, and I want to set up the gauges and balance the carbs yet, but money well spent so far.

Yep... any racerguy should realise there's a reason you don't see Emgo branded stuff at the race track :D

was quite confused reading "yoshi 4-1 headers" with emgo filters... what an oxymoron
