DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

definate frame mods.

Not exactly what you are after but this site has hundreds of links to all sorts of weird custom bikes. http://www.650motorcycles.com/

Plenty of Yamahas (strangely enough), but also lots of other interesting cafe bikes and websites.

There's a guy over on the www.dotheton.com site that's doing a build exactly like what you're talking about. I think it's a 175 Yammy enduro. I've had thoughts of turning my MX250 into one as well. Would be silly fast with that torque induction 250.

I like the idea.
Now I have to find a beat up RM 500.
Thanks.
Up in Austin, TX they used to have a race as part of Aquafest. It was a street race and guys would show up on their Ninjas, FZs, and Interceptors. Many of the street bikes would end up trashed. It would usually be won by someone on a dirt bike with slicks mounted.

This is funny, I've actually been dreaming about this too :). They come out hella pretty. For my money though, get an old Honda scrambler, best to do like a CL450. The exhaust on those old bikes is BEAUTIFUL! Here is a few youtube videos...

A few little ones, 175 cafe...

I've got friends that might be willing to give me an old 450 scrambler that has been sitting on their property for a while. I don't know what kind of shape it is really in, but all the bits and pieces look to be there. That's a start :). -nick

So post a pic of your bike so we know what you're starting with.

Also, are you planning to keep this wee beastie street legal?

Scott Clough is very successful racing his CT1. Its a 125, but is usually in the top couple 250's.

Yours is going to be very pretty. I've got a slightly cafe RD400. (I like the stock seat, and find a rack useful, plus, this is a replica of the first bike I bought new)

the reason i like the DT1 is because i already have it, and its a 2 stroke.

heres mine: (havent done much yet, still planning)

just got it running yesterday, new plug, points, condenser, rings and honed. its fun as hell trying to keep the front wheel on the ground.

i am a little worried about getting it street legal because all the wiring was stripped by the previous owner.

anyways i will be changing the frame up a little, different tank and seat and i have been thinking of running trials tires instead of street for those gravel roads out here.
