If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

right then I've got a gs 700 e, it's not an english model so I'm after some information on engine spec, the engine prefix is P705, anyone know/point me in the right direction for info on what the spec of these engines were/are.:)

Check out the link:

http://suzukicycles.org/All-Suzuki/all_suzuki_models.html

Virtually the same as our GSX 750 but the yanks had some silly import tax; leaving out the extra 50cc meant they had enough cash left over to build the space shuttle:lol:

Bikez.com has a lot of info as well. :)

i think the law was that all the jap bikes were killing Harley sales cause they were faster and cheaper so there was a law against having a Jap bike over 700cc in the US. thats what I was told when talking to a budy about a Virago he was looking at.

lack of 50cc didn't stop them winning races either

the 700cc limit was I think impossed to help the falling sales of Harley's

Hi Mr. surplus 6,

You'll find a Supplementary Service Manual and an Owner's manual on my website. They should answer some of your questions. Welcome to GSR.

Thank you for your indulgence,

She looks nice you should be able to have some fun with that.

hoping to have lots of fun, this will be the first year with it on the road. I'm already trying to find the spec ready for an engine "upgrade" next winter. Either bigger bore (GSX 750 es barrels maybe, later to be bored out and fitted with GSXR 750 pistons, 816 ish) or just raise compression a little and some "hot cams" maybe R701 stuff, if it'll fit, I know these are Katana parts but have heard they're based on GSX750ES engine (raised crown pistons and hot cams) so that's why I need to know the spec to see if it'll all fit or not.
Then I'll need to uprate the running gear, maybe GSX750F forks (I've been told they "drop in"), and GSX600F top yoke to allow flat bars, does it ever end ?????/

I found this in the Old Q&A section, right here on the GSR homepage:

QUESTION: Head swap - 1985 GS700E/GS750
I recently purchased an '85 GS700E in flawless condition for $1100. The bike had 9K on it. I have been searching high and low for information on exactly what makes this bike any different from the 750.
Now I have broken my timing chain and trashed my cylinder head, and I need to know if a cylinder head from a GS750E will bolt right on. Also, where can I get a timing chain for less than the dealership's $77.50 price? How so you feel about installing used rocker arms? They, too, are expensive at the dealer ($41.95 ea.). Need help getting this baby going again real cheap and fast!
RIDER: Paul Nelson
REPLY: Billy Ricks
They shortened the stroke to make the 700. You need a 750 crank and rods to make it a 750. The head will bolt right up. There is a slight difference in cam timing, but you should use the 750 cams anyway. If your rocker arms are in good shape you should be alright using them again. Just be careful to keep intake and exhaust separated. I didn't do this once and a couple of rockers got chewed up pretty good. For parts try some of the discount warehouses that advertise in the bike magazines. They usually save you quite a bit.

Thank you for your indulgence,

thanks for that, I'd been told it was the bore they changed, so that information is really usefull, thanks again:D

so as Billy Ricks mentions using the 750 cams if using the 750 crank/rods, would they do anything for the performance if used in a 700 engine? I'm looking for cheap(ish) performance upgrades. I take it the 700 and 750 are the same size bore then?
