    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi. Thinking about putting a different engine into my 1977 GS750E and i'm thinking 1980's GSX750 lump or even a GSXR750 one. Can anyone please advise on how easy/difficult it would be to put either of these in, any wiring mods that may be needed and possibly what model of said
engine(s) would be best:?:
The bike's got 1980's GSX11 running gear front and back so it it can handle (literaly) a faster engine without having to plan braking two miles in advance.

Brakes and suspension are but two small parts of the handling equation.

The newer frames are much better, so your currrent frame will still be a limitng factor.

As for engine swap, ... someone else will have to address that part.

Do a search on this subject, it has been discussed at length before. I am sure the 80's engine is pretty easy to swap in, possibly some motor mounts to fab. The oil cooled GSXR has been done also. Once you decide which engine you are going to swap in, examine the wiring for the model the engine is comming from and compare to yours. Should not be that much involved. Ray
 
True, but i'm mostly considering the heart transplant as a way to make the bike even more individual than for all out speed. Been there and done that with a GSXR750.
 
The second generation GS750 engine is one of the only GS engines that were NOT bullet proof. Stay clear of those.

A 7-11 is a popular conversion (1100 engine in GS750 chassis). Lots of info in the archives on this. A GSXR engine install is also possible but requires more fabrication work in terms of engine mounts and such.

in my frame i had an 850 and i swapped it out for an 1100. real easy to do.
 
I would look for a GS1000 or 1100 motor even a 1100 16 valve, Chain drive.. The 80- up GS750 were a plain bearing crank
