A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I painted my tank and other parts with PJ1 Epoxy paint and really it came out nice. But on the last coat of clear coat I got a some burps from the can and it gave it a sort of rough bumpy surface. I am wondering If I can wet sand it a little to help this or if the Epoxy clear coat I used will give me poor results with the wet sanding?? Anyone have experience with Epoxy paints and Clear coats?? I used PJ1 Epoxy Clear Coat as well.

Thanks!

Sanding and polishing should be no problem. Try a small patch in an out of the way area of the tank as a trial. Try some 1500 grit paper used wet with a rubber backing block and see if the cutting action is adequate. You can use 1000 grit if necessary but you will get more sanding scratches.

I agree with Nessis, but you should try to nib it first(shaves the high spots back using a razor). They sell nib blocks and they are not very expensive. Then after nibbing just lightly WET sand it with 1000 or above grit wet dry paper. 3M makes a great paper called imperial. In this situation I would cut the paper into 3rds and then fold it into thirds and rub it by hand rather than the block. The block is great on flat surfaces but on a bike almost nothing is flat and that way you have more feel for the cut. Epoxy paint is wicked hard and you will probably need a buffer to gloss it back up after the wet sanding, unless you have some super fast hands and a bunch of time.

when it comes to paint defects, always try the least aggressive approach first and keep stepping it up until you get it. Keep this in mind when selecting your sand paper.

hope this helps

Well I did it and it came out great! I used 1500 then 2000 and some polishing compound with a buffer. Now the finish is just like glass. Its not perfect but i'm happy with it. Thanks for the input.
