A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Question... on my newer stock exhaust the cover that hides the welds to the muffler is secured by two screws threaded into threaded stands welded to the pipes.. you guessed it... one broke off from the muffler side and bangs like mad if I have them on.. fiven I got these with the newer exhaust I really want to keep them on bu tthat rattling drives me nuts... is there anything I can use to reattach this guy to my exhaust or am I SOL... I don't have or know a welder and don't think JBweld will hol dup to the exhaust pipe temps anyway.

Anyone tackled this issue before? ... searching did not yeild results... but i could have just been using not the right words *sigh*

can you use a bolt extractor and pull the old bolt out? Then replace with a new one?

Cory

screw is not broken off it is the guy that the screw threads into that is broken off from the exhaust pipe.. .so I can't attach my exhaust covers/heatshield without having the one that is not attached banging/rattling/making annoying noise... I have them off right now in the interest of saving my sanity but I'd really like to find a way to reattach it if possible.

it may be ugly, but what about a self tapping screw that is big enough to hold in the hole? If you you find one that is thick enough but too long maybe cut it down a bit.

I was hoping I could just re-attach the metal guy that was attached to the pipe.. drillign into my pipes would still make the rattle. I get a pic of the problem ... I think we maybe thinking two different things...

Take the nub and your bike over to a welder - they can tack it back on very easily.
