A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Exhaust Opinions

That doesn't sound all that loud. It the straight pipe ass holes that are the true pieces of ****... riding around scaring old ladies and waking up babies because their dicks are too short.

**** them.

That supertrapp sounds good. Also eric's homemade exhaust I wonder how it will sound with a 1000. Do you think there will be much difference?

For those who mentioned V-twins, I am not interested in them. I like my GS1000, Thank you very much. :), I just got it. Buying a V-Twin just for the sound of it is a pretty ridiculous idea (no offense). Besides, in my opinion I like our 4 cylinder engines better than a v-twin for cruising on canyons, (which is what I use the bike for other than daily riding to work).

I am not really hung up on pipe sound. When I see the cruiser/bobber builds, though, I wonder how dissonant that look is to the typical sound of these bikes. No pipe is going to give that "potato-potato" rumble of a Hardly Worth-it . . .

I do agree with you there... there is a limit... and those **** heads deserve a swift kick in the dick.

Tom's not the only one that's grumpy about excessive noisy motorcycles. In my view loud bikes are a selfish expression and irresponsible. I've started placing members here running open pipes on their bikes on my forum "ignore list".

Well, Ed, I would never leave you off the grumpy list. Tom just seems to be at the top of his game lately.

Yes, there are exhaust systems that sound better than others. But good luck finding an original Bassani, Yosh or Supertrapp

No offense taken Felix

We had a new guy on the GSR last (?) year who wanted to make his GS engine sound like a HD, and then got really offended when it was pointed out to him that it would be cheaper to buy a HD.

So, we just didn't know your intentions

I find the Vance and Hines 4-1 a good compromise. It will whisper through a hospital zone or growl real good if you want to wake up the cows.

The engine in that 750 measures right at 1100cc's :-$

o the roar and rumble of the ducatis. the howling banshee scream of the honda v5 engine, the burble and blat from the yamaha straight 4's.

Loud is great on a race track. Not in my neighborhood when every other jackwad that can't ride his hardly has to be louder than the next jackwad.

We get 99 herds for every one exotic bike, it sucks listening to the same old low performance donkey engines constantly.

I never heard anything loud in England, even the rare Herdlys are politely muffled....

even loud pipes can be quiet when ridden at a sedate pace. they just destroy your ear drums when you are caning it. most ducati's are like that from the factory!

Haven't heard the endless clouds of Herdleys trying to make as much noise as they can while sitting still, have you?

I would love to hear a flat out Ducati once in a great while.....

not many harleys around my area but a few chops and loads of hp sports bikes with loud pipes on. brings a smile to my face when a fireblade whizzes past my house and rattles the windows, even my wife has a giggle

Was it painted white?

An open pipe screaming L4 engine is insanely loud. Excess noise isn't the private domain of the HD buffoons. There are lots of street punks around annoying the crap out of people too.

And just because someone likes loud pipes, that doesn't mean they have the right to run one and annoy the majority of people that don't.

i dont like my neighbour mowing his lawn at 9am but i dont moan and cause a fuss over it

If the muffler on the dudes lawn mower is broken then you have every right to be annoyed and ask him to fix it. If the machine is normal, but you just don't like any noise in the morning, then you need to complain to your city commissioners and get them to establish/change the local ordinance. In the case of motorcycle noise, here in the US we have federal laws about motorcycle noise. The problem comes in when the a$$ holes choose to circumvent the laws in an act of defiant anarchy. This is completely different from some law abiding home owner cutting their grass on Saturday morning.
