DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

my room mate has a 79 gs850, the pipes are getting bad rust up near engine, anyone know what other years and sizes that would fit? dont have alot of access to do modifications . and also a starting question..
the battery is charged, start button will turn it a few times slowly, kick start 2nd try, when starter turns makes a cluking noise like the gears are loose, but not when its running. after a couple tries with the button it needs a jump start...any ideas? the starting circut is a new thing to me.

is there a parts interchange maual available? i know there is for cars..
could make a fortune putting one together and marketing it if there isnt.

As for pipes, I think that anything from a pre-80 850 or 1000 will work. Maybe even something from a 750. 80 and later had a cross over pipe between #2 and #3. Someone else more knowledgeable will likely chime in.

As for the starting issues, how old is the battery? Have you checked the output of the charging system? Poor output means the battery isn't getting charged. Have a look through the Stator Papers here on the site. If your buddy's bike has the stock charging system, it's likely pooched. Dirty contacts and old age really do a number on that stuff. Duanage (a member here) sells the one piece Honda replacement RR's. Search him out and replace that RR.

As for the clunking sound, could be the starter clutch. I've heard of problems with it before. Do a search for it and you should come up with something.

i too am looking for an exhaust for my '79. I believe the 77-79 gs 750 will fit. The '80 will fit but on the '80 there is a premuffler that is bolted to the oil pan. I've been told that it will work with some mods but i have not been informed on what those "mods" are. Maybe just a change of the oil pan. the 77-79 750 b,c,ec,and n are interchangeable. the 78-79 1000 c glx, gt, gx and n are interchangeable. And the 82 1100 n, gkz, glz, and gz are interchangeable.

Part # 11511-45100

This is the route i may have to go if i go with the '80 and newer models.

Let me know if you come up with an extra exhaust or 2, HA!

What I think you'll run into, is the way they mount at the rear. Some have a welded tab and others have a bracket and their all different for each year,I believe. At least that's what I ran into when I was looking for a set for my 81 850 "L". I didn't get an exact match, but only had to do a slight mod. to make it work.

I have an extra set that I think is for a 79 850, it has the tab type mounting plate. Their in fair shape, not new but not junk either. Let me know if your interested. I can take some pictures and send them to you.
