    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi,

for the GS1100GLZ 1982 I'm looking for 4 individual headers that will match my Marving exhaust. Who has built, from exhaust tubing, his own headers ? Or can someone provide me with a source that already did this build ?

I would like to stick with the 4-2 setup (no connection between header 2 and 3) so the 4 individual header pipes would be identical...

anyone experienced in this kind of work ?
 
Nobody ever had individual headers made (from new tubing) or made his own headers with the separate tubing you can find on the market ?
 
Bending the tubes will require specialist equipment, because the bends are quite sharp. I know of other ppl that build their own exhaust, they will use pre-bent pipes and weld everything together. But you wont create a factory look with that. Im not sure if that will look good on an inline4 engine. Most exhausts like that are made for turbos or V-twins

1 thing is for sure: If you decide to make it yourself/have it custom made for you, use stainless steel.

If you know you have Marving mufflers, are you SURE you cant buy ready made headers? Try ebay Germany, i remember seeing new Marving systems on offer there a while ago.

any link to a company that sells that kind of stuff 'in our region'...let's say: the Netherlands/Belgium area ?

Ok, found a company that can bend stainless steel pipes.
For setting up their machine, they require a 'dxf' drawing of the pipe.

Has anyone ever made such a technical drawing of their GS1100L (or matching) headers ?

Interesting they need a dxf.
In most cases your bends will require 3 dimensions.
Most DXF's are 2D formats that AutoCAD can open and view.

I think you're going a more sophisticated approach that will require modeling time. You can get similar results from purchasing a 4 into 1 header already made for the engine and modifying it.

The collector portion will be your most difficult part.
