A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 1980 gs550e and wanted to know what was involved for the pod filters. I understand I need to put a different jet? in the carbs? Can somebody walk me through the conversion and possibly give me some brand names, part numbers, and sources?

Thank you

Mate, if there is a "jetkit" for you bike that is the quickest and easiest way.
Otherwise it could be very time consuming.
For filters K+N, Uni or APE are all good.
Cheers
*Edit* I see you have an 80 550 does it have CV carbs? cause I am not sure I would be looking at pods with CVs if I didnt have to.

Does the bike run fine now?? If so, you may be best served to NOT go to pod filters. That bike indeed has CV type carbs on it, and they and pods dont get along all that well. It can be done, but, first, it requires knowlege of carburetion, how it works, and being able to translate what the bike is or isnt doing, and how to change it. Its not something for the mechanicly un-inclined, nor is it something that you can just slap on there and figure it out in a couple of minutes. it requires a significant amount of tuning. To be honest, unless youre coupling the pods with other performance modifications, it simply isnt worth the hastle for a 1-3HP gain.

I currently have a problem with the bike. The bike runs, however when I ride it bogs severely, ecspecially with hills and is sometimes solved with choke on. I think I have an air leak and I don't trust the condition of the 4 to 1 to the airbox. This problem was all of a sudden. One day it worked the next it didnt. I want to get the pods honestly because I want to be able to pull the carbs of the bike quickly to tune them. Once the pods are on I will be doing a bench sync. The carbs were just stripped down and cleaned like no other about a month ago. I really have no idea what the hell is going on with it and Im getting pretty frustrated as the season is progressing. I also have the Dyna S mod. This all makes me want to sell it but I love it so much.
