DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Finally a Cooley

After years of hunting it fell in my lap, I would say its a 7 out of 10. This one is way to nice to mod so an off the boat restoration might be in the near future. Yes those are NOS new in the box mirrors. :)

Came with an extra set of stock pipes, they are pretty near flawless.

Two sets of original mirrors, pipes, the dash is unbroken, and overall completely unmolested..I'd say that's a good starting point. ;)

Ya, I guess, if you like that kind of thing..........................

Congratulations, it looks awesome!!!

What's the story? Was this a GSR member bike and how many miles?

Looks like there may be a crack in the glass above the clock knob, can't really tell. If there is, I have an NOS piece of glass. I also have an NOS ignition cap. May have a few other bits.

Non GSR member bought the bike about a year ago but not sure from there. The glass is cracked I would definitely be interested in some of the bits you might have.

Thanks Rich

I will be following this one, I love the look of the SN with the flat seat.

Good score and nice to see you have the elusive clock knob, be careful when removing the knob, there is a very fine screw holding the knob on from the top.

One of my bikes has a broken piece of glass but I can't get the knob off, I've tried but it feels like it may have been glued on and I'm going to break something if I force it too much.

If you need anything related to the Cooley just ask, there are a few of us on here that have restored them before and should be able to help with almost anything. (except OEM mirrors ) ha ha

Cheers,

David

Sorry to thread jack, oh before I, do nice score Joe. Mine is a molested basket case, that will need a lot of work. Which means I'm not going stock resto, so my thread jack question is, are there any good alternative mirrors to use?

Last year I found some knock off RG500 mirrors on ebay UK, they had the correct spacing 50mm IIRC, and didn't look too bad, I'll see if I can find the link.

Maybe this one.

Also found these knockoffs for the TL1000, possibly gives a little better view as the mounts are a little longer but may look funny on the Cooley and you would need to check the bolt spacing.

P.S. if anyone uses these aftermarket mirrors on a Cooley take note, the OEM ones screw in from the outside, whereas all after market ones are attached from the inside so you will need to drill out the threads on the top bracket to fasten the non OEM units.

I have found some later Katana ones though they fit on the handle bars fit the look really ok, I keep the original ones for when the bike is posing. (Like this), (Utterly without scruples me, shameless.. On the Suzuki stand at the Birmingham NEC last year  ) The originals were/are a disaster for the job they're designed to do.
Ridicules madly expensive next to useless mirrors that actually only give a kings eye view of your elbow if you look carelessly...

I will post up a picture of the Kat ones when I get back to UK.
These are the usual ones I used to have...

Having tins painted by a fella here in Austin. So far so good. Will let you know overall outcome when complete. Be happy to share his contact info, Joe...unless Mr. Pearson gets back in the game. :)
