First ride with my son Chris

Today the planets aligned and allowed my oldest son Chris and I to finally have a beautiful sunny afternoon free to go riding together for the first time.

We did a loop beginning and ending at my home that totaled around 70 miles of various types of roads.

Chris skillfully rode the newest bike in my little fleet, the 1983 GS1100E that I recently adopted from Jethro, and I rode my little trainer 1982 GS300L since the 1981 GS750E is still out of commission for now.

We had a great time (wish that we had more time) and very much look forward to planned longer trips as schedules allow (when the 750 is back in action).

We missed younger brother Adam and hope he will have time to join us, but he has his hands full since becoming a dad himself a few weeks ago.

Looks great! Your son doesn't realize just how lucky he is (and you after WVA) that he has someone to ride with. You and the 83 were made for each other.

Well .. I not really the bridge jumper type.

My son Chris tells me that when he was in college, those old bridges were sometimes hangouts for some of the classmates.

If I recall correctly, he told me that they would climb to the top and lay down on the cold steel (warm summer nights I imagined) and stare into the stars while pondering questions life.

He began to climb that day to show me how easy it is ... and I stopped him at about 5 feet... my nerves wouldn't allow it.

It was a nice afternoon and I look forward to the next one.

Funny you should say that .. Chris and his wife recently graduated from Kentucky Christian University which is just a few minutes ride from the where the bridge shots were taken.

He is very excited to be starting the employment process at his first church in Lexington KY right now along with his current job, which is why it is rare for me to have time for such things as this wonderful afternoon. I am very proud of my sons and daughters.

I hope that everyone on here can have an experience like this with someone ..

I ride with my pops from time to time...We have very different ridding styles however...and often i let him lead (He has a 07 Vulcan900) but he's a lazy rider, slow on shifts...likes to cruise...which is fine...but often coming off a light he frustrates me because he so takes his sweet time on the clutch lever he leaves me between shifts...hanging there to avoid running up his rear...lol I do love riding with him tho. Its nice to be able to do so. We have plans (my parents and I ) to run the Dragon next spring...Im takin the cafe...its gonna be painfull...lol but i cant resist i wanna take her thru it...

Beautiful pics. Nature is awesome. Lots of pretty colors and its cool that you got to ride with you son. Family riding is always cool. After I'm done rebuild my 550 I'm hopefully gonna start up on two other project bike so my brother and stepdad can ride with me

cools pics.have you ever had to take a ferry across the river??I rode from KC.mo. to St.Louis and then to Hermann,turned south to Rolla and then over to the Ozarks.Then headed North to Jefferson City and on to columbia.Made a stop at Boonville and took I-70 on home.Over 600 miles that day with 4 other GS'rs Best ride i ever had!!!!
