    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi has anyone done this or know someone who can give some advice?

The 4.5in rear is the common mod. I believe the GSXR750 only came with the 4.5x17 in 1988 and 1989- 1990 and later had 5.5in rear. I don't think it is possible to use the later model 5.5in wheel without swaping swingarms.

The 1998 and newer Katanas-600 and 750- also came with the 4.5in rears.

Another option is a 3.5in rear. This will mount a 140 tire and should easily fit within your stock swingarm and only reguire modifing the rear caliper brake arm. The 3.5in rear can be found on the GS1150 and pre 1997 Katana 750's. I have used the 1150 rear on my 750 for years with a 140 tire. It bolted up easily with only the brake arm needing to be modified. I am now going to the Katana 4.5in rear so I can run radial tires. Don't overlook the Katana parts- I have found them to be very plentiful and cheaper than equivelent GSXR items

I actually have a GSXR750 1992 4.5 wheel with a new diablo tyre fitted and seeing how I have been told I need new tyres for MOT I am keen to use this now.

unfortunately I do not have the sprocket carrier for it so I am looking for 1 of those, If you or any one else knows of one please let me know.

I have tried ebay ect. with no luck so far

1992 GSXR 750 rear was 5.5in as they went to this wheel size in 1990. I only mention it as they also changed from a 5 bolt sprocket to a 6 bolt pattern sometime during this period. If it is a GSXR unit and is 4.5in wide it should be 1988-89 and accept the 5 bolt sprocket pattern. JTSprockets and Bike Bandit are two good sites to cross reference parts to see which years will interchange. Good Luck, Ed.

what a fountain of knowledge you are Ed, it is indeed a five bolt pattern, I have a carrier with six lugs for the cush bearing and the wheel has 5 so I will take your advice and accept that it must be an 88-89.

I have a carrier for a complete Katana 3.5" wheel. I'm not certain I want to bust up the set though.
