I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

ok so i got the carbs dipped and sprayed out with carb cleaner. i ordered some 87.5 mains from jetsRus, now i just need to figure out the needle clip postion. ive heard that usually you only need to raise the clip one notch, but i dont know where the starting point is. with stock carburetors, in your experience, where is the needle usually?

Middle is standard - move it down one

You have a bad petcock that is a source of much of your trouble

ok thanks for the help everyone, dont know what id do without this site! s owith the petcock, should i get a rebuild kit, or just buy a new one?

On some model petcocks, the rebuild kits fit, on others they don't fit at all.
I don't know about the 550 petcock.
A new one is a sure thing.

ill scour the site and see if anyone has had success with the kits, im trying to keep this pretty low budget

"so the question you gotta ask yourself is, Do you feel lucky?...Punk":) ill just get a new one, not even worth taking a chance over. any good venfors you know with low prices and high quality? ive seen some on ebay but all for around $100

I gots to know! click!

Really, if you want to stay cheap for the time being, just take the #3 carb to the auto parts store and get a correctly fitting rubber cap for the vacuum port

Then, use you petcock in manual mode - turn it to Prime to run, turn it to ON when you stop

You can always replace the petock at any time

Might need to cap the vacuum port on the petcock too, depending upon the failure mode. They are spendy devils, and I'm starting to get second round failures in my little fleet.

that is great to know! i know its a temporary fix but does it alter the performance at all?

Bought mine from Z1. They are not OEM, but they are good quality and way under $100. On mine the hose ports are oriented much more friendly than the Suzuki also, got rid of that ridiculous 3" piece of hose with the offset thats a PITA to line up when installing the tank.

well i opted for a new petcock. my plan is to take a trip to colorado this summer so i dont want the open chance of it failing on me even further down the road. i ordered from Z1, and it was relatively inexpensive compared to some other vendors ive seen. i got the carbs set up, needle raised one notch, 87.5 mains, new orings and the floats are all set at 26mm as my manual instructed. i got a little over zealous with the throttle shaft though and snapped a bold inside the shaft but it didnt break flush, so the piece sticking out is keeping the slide assembly in place. i shouldve just went with loctite and taken it easy on those poor old bolts! so now i have to find a way to get that broken screw out. theres only one way to get to it so i will have to drill it out somehow. do you think an easy-out would be able to pull it out?

im not sure if anyone can see that i wrote back but i'd appreciate your help if you see this. i rejetted per the tutorial 87.5 mains, and raised the needle one clip so it is now set on the second from the bottom notch. it will only run when choked. it stumbles heavily up until 5k and then it roars evenly. anyone have an idea of where to go from here? im thinking of getting 85 mains and seeing if that helps but other than that im stumped again
