    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've done a little searching and what I've found is that the forks on my bike are 35mm. And this measurement is the diameter of the inner fork.

Is this correct ?

Looked through about everything I could think of for verification, but once again, I'm depending on you guys.

I'm curious what sizes the other models are. If you know yours, will you post it up, please ?:)
 
35 or 37. The bigger bikes tend to use larger forks for obvious reasons. Once you get about 850cc the size goes to 37 IIRC

Edit: The reason I ask is I'd like to find an 8" headlight and mount it up up nice and neat with a set of stock Suzuki ears. The problem is going to be the fork sizes. The 8" only came on certain years of the GS700, GS1100 and GS1150. Time to look up some numbers on the list.

Anybody ever tried this ?

Hi Larry! Love the DNS/hosts file trick -- I couldn't find the IP address anywhere...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure your bike will have the 37mm diameter fork tubes.

The other relevant measurements would be the center-center distance between the fork legs and the distance between the upper and lower triple clamps.

I know the distance between the forks legs has some variation -- it's 10mm different between my GS850 and the '82-83 1100E, but I don't remember what exactly this measurement was.
 
I think my 83 GS1100E is 37mm

My 81 GS750E is 35mm

According to the motherload list of measurements, my '81 GS750L should have 35mm forks.

I bought this light from a GS1150 that had a fairing. I haven't received it yet, hopefully by the end of the week. I'm thinking that, after I find a nice set of ears for it I could make it work. If not, it'll be up for sale, trade or whatever....It looks like the brackets that held it in the fairing will unbolt and I should have a nice "regular" 8" headlight.

It may be a waste of time, but I'll see what it looks like once I get it in my hands.

I also found the right side panel, which is the one that was missing. I have the left one and although slightly damaged, it is usable. It even came with a couple nice frame covers.....free of charge !!
