A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

mY BUDDY AND I HAVE ALL THE RAW MATERIALS FOR THE FORWARD CONTROLS FOR MY 1980 GS 1000L AND HOPEFULLY BY THIS FRIDAY JANUARY 20TH, WE WILL HAVE THEM DONE. I INTEND BORROWING A DIGITAL CAMERA AND POSTING PICTURES HERE IF ANYONE IS INTRESTED IN BUYING SOME LIKE THEM WHICH WE COULD MAKE. THE CHROMING WILL BE EXPENSIVE I HAVE BEEN TOLD. THE UNPAINTED UN CHROMED UN POWDERCOATED VERSION WILL NOT BE TOO EXPENSIVE.

Let's see the pics...

Interested for sure if the quality is OK..

me too, although mine is an 1100GL and may need to be slightly different.

i THINK THE MEASUREMENTS FOR THE 850,1000, AND 1100 WILL BE THE SAME.WHAT I COULD DO IN ONE IS INTERESTED IS HAVE YOU EMAIL ME YOUR MEASUREMENTS FROM A COUPLE POINTS ON YOUR BIKE AND I COULD MAKE ADJUSTMENTS IF NECESSARY. SOME OF THE BASIC COMPONENTS WILL BE THE SAME ON ALL BIKES, SOME WILL NOT.

Let me know how you come out making yours and I'll send pics/measurements if your fabrication works out. I'm anxious to see them!

I will keep everyone posted.I have the ones for the brake side made. Then my buddy the welder decides today to go to Las Vegas with his wife so the shifter side didnt get done.H will be back monday, so hopefully we can get them finished and pictures posted.I have no advantage over anyone else, i am a private individual, so whatever chroming or powder coating costs are for me will be passed on with no markup whatsoevcer to any potential customers.Or, a person could buy them raw and pay for whatever finish they want. They will look good i can promise that much, but nothing as elaborate as some cnc chromed billet product. That would cost someone $600 or more for those kind.Ours will probably be about a third of that.

pictures coming

pictures coming

My buddy is back from las vegas and this sunday february 5th we should be done.dont know if anyone is following this thread anymore.Pictures soon!

ooh pictures. I might just have to take a some plate alum and get creative with the CNC router at work.

Yep, was hoping there were pictures this time! tap tap tap . . ..
:-D

Well I'm following it too, and pictures would sure be nice. My bigest problem is that now I have 2 GS1100's one's a GK and the other is a GL so have to decide which one gets these if I get them.

If i can see correctly, by looking closely at all the bike of the month pictures, they all have a place on the front down tubes where highway bars can be mounted. This would mean our sets would work on 750,850,1000 and i think the 1100 bikes. My buddy says he can make some plates that bolt onto the downtubes to mount the controls if some models dont have the mounting points i just mentioned.I was amazed to see that 4 links to connect the linkage was $80 freakin' dollars!I dont have a business or tax number so the full retail cost of everything will be in the cost of any setups.I now must say my biggest problem will now be trying to figure out how to post pictures on this site.I could possibly leave my email for others to send me their email address and send multiple pictures as an attachment to whomever is interested.I cant believe i will be working on these on superbowl sunday.Go Steelers!

the bars on my 82 1100 mounted where the engine mounts to the frame. I was thinking about making something up for forward controls also... Are you using the factory controls, just mounting them up front or new from scratch?

What we are making will require you taking your stock controls off, connecting them to ur controls, then mounting the whole thing to the bike.I expect the entire process would take about 15 minutes once you have the old shifter and brake pedal off.Cool or what!

Hey, I'll give you my email address to send pics for posting if you don't want to take the time to figure it out. Happy to post them. I think the 1100 frame is pretty much the same. Yes, the highway bars or case savers would mount at the bottom where the engine mounts to the frame. What links are you talking about? What mfr/distributor are they coming from? If there is a group order, I can get them pretty cheap through my uncle's shop.

I will surely like to have your email address. We got the shifter side made today, one piece i had made for the brake side doesnt fit>Gotta look for a new source there.I would like to post pictures of the shifter side so everyone can see what they will look like.Remember, these dont exist for the gs series, now they will. They have been a lotta work.I will want to make jigs for the next ones so everything will go faster.I know some folks here are getting impatient to see pictures, but not any more than I am.Thanks for anyone who is interested.

Well, The Site Sure Was Down A Long Time.my Buddy An I Rushed ,like Mad To Get Some Pictures, Then The Site Was Down.i Am Off Tomorrow, Saturday, So Will Download Them And Try To Send Them Here As An Attachment. There Will Be Explanatory Text To Go With Them. I Can Tell You The Make The Bike More Comfortable To Ride.at Least For Me.
