A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have stock jets in my carbs with stock air box along with 4 into 1 exhaust. My plugs are white and I believe I need to go up one jet size, or can I max out my air mixture screws on the carbs?

Thanks

Maxing out the pilot mixture screws will only have effect in the lower rpm ranges. A richer main will help but the needles need help too. You can try shimming them but the taper is the bigger problem with stock needles.

With a 4-into-1 pipe, you will need to go up more than just one jet size. Probably three, but reading the plugs is the only real way to tell. Prepare yourself for getting the carbs off and back on the bike MANY times trying to get the jetting right.

After it's all said and done, you won't have that much more power, so you're gonna have to ask yourself, "was it all really worth it to go to pods?" :-k

.

Save the hastle and get a Dynojet kit... It will take you from Stage one thru three, incase you go to pods later (i recommend sticking with the airbox..)

I don't really care if you run pods or not. I just get tired of people saying it is such a pita and can't be done for the bike to run dead on.

What do you use for needle shims? Or can you order them? I will try shimming first as I do not have to take the carbs off to try them.

Thanks

Go to a Radio Shack and get the assorted small washers. Find the washers that are the same size as the one on top of the needle spring.
Take off the plastic spacer over the clip on the needle. Notice how much needle is sticking out the top of the spacer. Replace the spacer with the same length of washers. Remove two off the top and that will raise (richen) the needle one notch. I would start with removing one washer.

I agree with the Dynojet kit.......but as far as the PODS goes, I can definately see the difference with them on my 550EF!! I'm pulling the front end off the ground now and this Demon is alive...........
