I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

has anyone modified their frame? if so what year, model and any pics?

This --------------><---------------------- close to choping the rear off the end and making a cafe. My brother talked me out of it. I would like to some day build a hardtail and put either a Yammie 650 or Suzuki equivalent in there.... Interested in modding your frame? I know a few people have braced their frame and ALOT of people have chopped off the rear end to make a cafe or atleast something that looks like it.... I think the only upcoming mods I'm going to make to my frame is to cut off unnecessary metal and to clean up the welds because DAYYYUM (stole that from TCK) if Suzuki didn't lay down some ugly welds on these frames

how much of the rear frame can you cut off without welding

did you do any welding? is it strong without welding with that much cut off?

Bracing the frame after cutting off that large chunk is something I was worrying about which is why I kinda strayed away from chopping the rear. You do lose a crossmember. But TCK did chop all the way up to the upper shock bolts and he's had no problems. Unless you're weighing in at 300 lbs then I think you're good if you're gonna go about doing it...... Although I would cap the ends to keep moisture and critters out

Yeah tho i do plan on having another flat crossmember welded in. More for support of the seat pan i am going to use than anything...my arse doesnt even come clost to the rear where i have it cut, and the shocks should disperse force equally rather than exactly in that spot anyway.

you had no problems after cutting that much of the frame off cafe kid? did you weld?

Nope...not a lick. Thats stock frame minus some. And its held up with my big ass on it. Keep in mind that there will never be a second ass on my bike however...which is fine...my girls can ride their own damn bike. :-D

cafekid can i see a pic of what the cut looks like from the rear

Yeah gimmie a few..i think i have one on here somewhere...im at work so ill have to sort thru my photobucket accnt. Hold please...

hrmm this is the best i have at the moment...ill take a good shot for you tomorrow while im workin on her and post it up for ya...this is when i still had the shortie shocks on it...

i want those shocks? i have a 79 GS850. will they fit or know of any? what model are they?

Sorry they're already gone...gave em to a fellow member who lives near me. They're eye to clevis anyway, and i think the 850 are eye to eye but i might be wrong. They were just stock shocks that had been cut and welded.

The PO had done that right? I can't for the life of me figure out how the shock comes apart

I cant either...i think he just cut them apart. welded the piston arms into place and then cut the springs and welded those.

it's a bit hard to explain but not that hard to do . i've done it with car suspensions before.

I THINK the way it comes off is that you need to compress the spring and then remove the upper retainer that keeps the spring under tension and attached to the shock and the spring will just slip right past the upper mounting point..... Kinda like if you're working on valve springs for a pushrod engine. You press down on the spring remove the retainer and then take the spring off. My only problem is that the retainer doesn't want to give. Plus its hard when its only you doing this and the spring is threatening to decompress on your fingers if they slip
