    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

front axle '79 750 dual discs

Okay, I'm an idiot. After removing the front (cast) wheel and laying out all the hardware in order, I promptly kicked the pan and all the parts went flying about. Could someone please tell me the order these parts go back on? i.e. "Slide a washer on axle, slip through fork, through speedo, through wheel, then the big hat-style spacer....." what comes next? also, the thick top-hat spacer (through the fork), does the "rim" go on the inside of the fork? I'm lost! None of the pics in the gallery showed enough detail.

Would that be for a dual front wheel disk brake setup or a single front disk?

I've got a factory manual for the 1979 GS1000 series. I believe that the 1979 750 series had the same front ends. I'd be happy to photocopy and fax you the pages from my manual that show the exploded views of the front forks and front axle assemblies, together with the written text instructions.

Thanks for your help. I'll set up my 750 like that picture and hope for the best!
This front end is actually on a 1980 550, due to the fact the 550's was not so nice. Now I have a parts bike (60 miles away). Any reason to switch back to a 550 front end? I'd lose the dual discs, but I'm not road racing, and it just adds weight. Any thoughts?
