DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Front Brake Not Working

The front brake is not lighting up. First of all, the rear brake switch works fine, brake lights up no problem.

The front switch works, the continuity comes off and on when the switch is activated, The continuity on the wires from the switch to the headlamp is fine. The continuity throughout the wiring checks out, and the split where the front and rear switches are soldered together is fine, continuity is good.

So if the switch is good, rear switch works, continuity checks out and the light is okay, where do I go from here?

Have you adjusted the slide? That metal piece at the end of the wiring provides contact with the little ball inside. Loosen the screws and slide it slowly from side to side until you get contact.

is there 12v going to the switch?

I am getting a bit more than 10 volts at the switch. Battery is down a bit, around 11.7 and I am doing a slow charge on it. Also, I am not using the stock master cylinder. Off a late model bike.

as cowboy says, is the switch actually operating? remove it from the m/c and manually push the switch in and out. it may just need some adjusting to make it work with the lever

Let me see if I have something right. I put the continuity tester on the prongs that come out of the master cylinder. I get continuity there and it breaks when I depress the brake lever. Do I have that right?

no, you should only get continuity when the lever is pulled in,and the switch is made. that makes the circuit and the brake light comes on.

Figured I had that bassackward. I'll take the switch apart. Thanks guys.

short the 2 wires together, the brake light should light up then, if it does then you know its a faulty switch

Switch not on right. Turned switch around. Switch fixed. Light comes on. ( I did not do this). Next problem.

Thanks a lot.
