A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am working on getting my gs 850 able to be inspected and was troubleshooting an issue where my front brake would not light up the brake light. I took the sensor out and basically I have the sensor mount, wiring with 2 copper contacts(on pc board, copper is separated by a gap)...and thats all. Does anyone know what the missing piece would be called / where I could order one / do you have one you want to sell?

Thanks,

Elk.

Thanks; I missed that link on the site. Need to pay more attention.

This is a very common issue. Search will reveal lots of information. Here's a link from BassCliff's website showing all the parts and the repair.

CRC2onlinecatalog.com has the part for $9 + shipping. Partsnmore.com has it pretty cheap too as I understand. Probably still available from Suzuki.

I was just doing that last night. The spring was in about 6 pieces. I tried a pen spring, but it was barely too big. So I used my pocket knife and performed some surgery on a mechanical pencil this morning to get the spring out and it's noticeably smaller than the pen spring. I'll find out tonight if it works.

If you don't care about having the safety on the clutch lever (which prevents starting the bike while in gear), you can steal some parts from that switch - it's the same as the brake switch.

Just follow the 2 wire lead into to headlight bucket, disconnect from the harness side & plug the 2 harness leads into each other. Now the bike will start without holding the clutch lever in - which can be both good and bad!

There was a dude on ebay selling thise switches for around 7 bux, shipped.

It may be that you're just missing the contact pin, part #257465-18601, about $2. Then you don't have to replace the whole switch.

I threw that troublesome piece of crap in the dumpster and installed a hydraulic actuated one for $32.00. No more brake light switch problems with the front brake handle.:D
