    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

front end for a '83 1100e

i have an opportunity to pick up a complete front end (tire, calipers, triple trees....) of a 2002 gsx 600. i know that the gsx 750 bolts right on and am wondering if i could do the same with the 600. thanks, eric.
 
The steering head bearings are different on the late model GSXRs. The 600 front end is basically the same as was used on the '88-'90 GSXR750s. If you can deal with the bearing situation use the '02. It would involve modifying the steering stem. Either replacing the stem with your GS stem, if that will even work, or seeing if it could be modified to accept the tapered bearings. Otherwise it would be easier to look for something from about '89 to whatever year the bearings changed. Somewhere in the mid '90s was when the bearing arrangement changed.

I have 02 gsxr 600 forks on my 83,and I can tell you if you dont have access to a machine shop youll have no luck.The first obvious thing is the length,I used the gsxr triple clamps and machined spacers that go on top of the fork tubes and into the top triple clamp, to locate the tubes 3/8" under the triple clamp.Then I pressed the stock stem out of the lower gs triple clamp,pressed it into the gsxr's.The upper bearing adjuster is flipped over and on top instead of under the upper clamp followed by the lock nut.I also relocated the clip ons above the triple clamp because they had my nose on the gas tank to reach them.I adapted all the gsxr controls to the gs wiring/cables,the 17" wheel is comfortably far enough away from the sidewinder pipe.All this trial/error did pay off with what looks very clean,handles/stops excellent.The early gsxr forks can be put in the stock gs clamps,much easier!

I used the front end that came on the '88-'90 750s with the GSXR triple and it bolted on with no trouble. One other possibility is to use the triple from an '88-'90 750. The tube diameter for the '02 front end is the same as the early 750s.
 
Is the tube spacing the same between the two bikes? (88-90 and 02) Meaning the distance between the tubes themselves.

Most likely. Suzuki has a habit of keeping most specs like this the same year to year.
 
thanks for the input. it doesn't sound like it's worth the hassle. i'll keep my eye open for something early- mid '90. thanks, eric.
