A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

On my 85 GS1150 the front master cylinder level glass has a leak. Can these be replaced?

How big is the leak and where is it located? Could you seal it from the inside with a clear epoxy or superglue after you draw down the brake fluid level? Of course the brake fluid may gradually dissolve this coating over time, but might be worth a shot and save you time and replacement hassles. Best regards...

superglueing it wont work.....brake fluid will eat it in no time. Possibly the epoxy , or some sort of silicone may work. However, whatever solution you find, you must make sure that it forms a perfect seal around the glass, or your just letting in dirt, water, and air into your brake fluid/lines (bad stuff).

The worst case is getting a new master cylinder reservoir. its a pain in the ass, and for me cost around 45 bucks cdn.

two ways to fix it without replacing it. First- remove the window and fill the hole with JB weld, 2th get a piece of plexiglass rod of the correct dia and cut a piece to fit the hole and polish the ends

I've heard of a machinist who could make a disk out of aluminum to replace these windows. I'm not sure how he reatined and sealed the disk, or who it was, or if it's even true, but it's something to think about.

Thanks for all the advice. I ended up taking a 1/8" thick piece of plexiglass to a glass shop. They cut me a piece the size of a dime. I used JB weld to insert the plexiglass.
Good as new now.
