    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Front/Rear tire messup...

Ok, so i ordered a new tire for my bike. I had meant to order rear, but I accidently ordered the Front tire. THe correct size, 130/60-19, but a front instead of a rear. My question is this -

Should I pay the 20 bucks or so it will cost me to fix this mixtake on a $60 tire, or should i just have it mounted as it is and ride it? I know the tread pattern is slightly different for the front and rear (Kenda Challengers - rear - ttp://www.bikebandit.com/assets/product_images/06KendaK657RearTireLG.gif front - http://www.bikebandit.com/assets/product_images/06KendaK657FrontTireLG.gif)

but i dont' know how much of a difference it will make. Any input is appreciated.

EDIT - Proper Size listed above in bold should be 130/60-16. Silly me.

You better check your sizes, 130/60-19 doesn't seem right for either front or rear.

Regarding using a front tire on the rear of your bike, my uneducated guess is that it will be okay.
 
If it's actually the right size tire it'll be ok, I don't believe the tire make up itself is different from front to rear just the sizes (I've never seen a front tire size that properly fit a rear). Your rear is a 19"? My front is a 19" but my rear is a 18"
 
I believe the size he meant might be 130/90-16...

But anyway, it will be well worth the $20 or whatever to get a real rear tire. The front tire placed on the rear won't last long. I don't think it'll do anything strange and kill you, but it'll be toast very quickly compared to a proper rear.

Heck, $20 is a really cheap mistake. I've made mistakes that cost 1,000 times that much.

You could also just order up the rear and put the mistakenly ordered front on Craigslist. If it is a 130/90-16, this is a very common Harley size, and someone should come along very quickly and buy it from you.

Oh yeah... Here's a classic.
Thought my igniter was bad and ordered one, this was before I knew about Dyna S. To top it all off, my igniter wasn't bad, so I paid twice what a Dyna S costs for a new igniter I didn't need. That one goes in the stupid hall of fame.

It's only a "mistake" if you do something wrong TWICE.:)
 
you are correct, it is a 130/60-16 size front tire. I accidently typed 19 cause my front uses a 100/90-19 and i was thinking about front tires. The thing that bothers me is it's a $20 mistake on something that cost $60 to begin with. If it were a $120 tire, I would have it exchanged in no time flat. I'll check the custom bike guy next door and see if he knows anyone who wants to buy it. I'd sell it for as low as $50 (like i said, paid $60 shipped) and just take a $10 hit instead of having to pay to ship it back.

At least I caught it before I took it next door to get mounted and looked like a fool...I can see it now...."Umm...this is a front tire...and you want it on your rear?" "Oh..that's a front tire??? Crap"

We'll see what they suggest. Thanks for the input guys. So far this is the only big mistake I've made on my bike. Thank goodness.
 
I'd eat the $20. To me, price of the tire wouldn't make much difference. A $20 mistake is still $20. Be thankful it's not any more.
 
i'm definately thankful it's not more. I'm sure i would have have more money in mistakes if it weren't for the extremely helpful people on this forum.
 
Well, after checking how much freight would be on it..it's actually a $30 mistake. 20 to ship it and 8.50 to have them ship the correct one back out. Maybe I'll call the company i ordered from customer service tomorrow and see if they can wave the reshipment fee. If not I'll probably just have it mounted and see how fast it wears. No sense paying an extra 50%. I'll get my $30 of riding out of it if it even lasts the summer. Or I'll see if the guy next door knows anyone that needs a 130/60-16 front tire for cheap.
