A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Is there an aftermarket fuel gage I can hook up to my bike? I haven't noticed any besides really bulky ones in auto stores. I know my tank has a float and sending unit on it, but my instrument cluster doesn't have a gage on it. Thanks

Les

Dont know for sure, but should the 81 GS750E have a gas guage on instrument cluster? You say tank has the sender, and assuming the bike should have the guage in the instrument cluster . . . . do you know if for some reason it is not the correct instrument cluster on the bike?

Or is it not the correct tank on the bike?

I would think that of all the gas guages from diffeent bike models and all the differernt car/trucks are all going to vary so much that you are not going to find an aftermarket guage.

If its not the correct instrument cluster, have you concidered finding the correct instrument cluster off ebay or salvage yards?

No I do not believe it is the original instrument cluster. I have considered looking for a different one but I like the round style of mine as opposed to the square style of the originals. I doubt there is a very small aftermarket fuel gage, I just thought it was worth an ask.

okay, so your bike should have a gas guage but has wrong instrument cluster. So tank has the sender and the bikes wiring harnes has the wiring.

You say you cant find a "small" aftermarket gas gauge. What I am wondering, and someone else will need to answer is this: Are all gas guages enough the same electrically? I mean are they all the same such that X volts?ohms?milliamap? is full and Y is half and Z is empty?

Hey, dont give up yet. I am often suprized at what some of these guys come up with.
