    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Fuel Idle Mixture Screw

Finally got the opportunity to adjust the fuel idle misture screws (bs34) the

screws are located on each outer side of the carbs. Wasn't seeing any

difference in the left side. Took it out completely and the tip of the screw is

broken off in the carb. The search wasn't working for me... I'm wondering my

options on getting this out. I looked at bikecliff's site but the directions for

removing the fuel idle screws are for a different carb.
 
The concept is the same for the BS34SS carbs. Unscrew the pilot screw completely out and use something small and sharp (a wire or a very sharp awl works) and poke the tip back through. Just be careful to not damage the hole it's stuck in. Shouldn't take much effort to get it to pop out.
 
They're not the bs34ss. They're bs34. Let me check if I have a picture to show the difference. They're upside down in this picture... but hopefully you can see the difference.

Did you try to tap it on the edge of a table and see if you can jar it loose? Could you maybe get a tiny pair of needle nose pliers and see if you can grab the broken part? How much of the tip is broken off?
 
There's probably like 3mm stuck in there... I haven't messed with anything yet... Still trying to find a replacement part being that the OEM part is no longer available and nobody has a replacement number.
 
z1 doesn't have it... taking a shot in the dark and going with a set of mixture screws off a yamaha 650 that appear to have the same carbs
 
You may need to call Z1 as they don't list everything on their website but they will be able to get it and their customer service is fantastic. Don't guess on another set of carbs from a different bike.
 
alright, I'll give them a phone call assuming these parts that I already ordered don't fit... in the mean time... has anybody worked on these carbs and encountered this problem? I'm wondering if on the opposite end of where the mixture screw goes in is a plug that I can take out.

 
OOOHHHH! Now I see the problem. Not what I was expecting when you said BS34. Wasn't aware of those being so different. Ya, fine tipped needle nose pliers or maybe some tapping of a hammer on the opposite side with the opening facing down might jar it loose. Just make sure you don't force it any deeper.
 
still can't get this thing out... may be taking a drill to the opposite side in hopes of getting what appears to be a plug out and gain better access to the broken off piece.

...Took a drill to the opposite side. The second I got through the aluminum plug I was able to stick a needle in and get the broken off piece out.

I take it you're going to use something like JB weld to close that whole back up.
