    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Fuel screw

While making adjustments l noticed that when I gently seated my fuel screws, #2 was much higher than the rest.. I checked the needle, spring height, and the port itself for a possible blockage or debris. Is this normal?

Is the tip broken off and stuck in the carb body?
 
Just wondering:
- is the #2 threaded port itself shorter than the others?

- Does a different fuel screw (from adjacent port) thread into #2 the same length as the one in there now?

Many times replacement screws that may have been picked up at some point are slightly different than others. I ran into this recently while working on carbs for some other members when I noticed the same thing. They both had broken tips, and I got the tips out and replaced the screws for them with some from my stash. But mine have shorter heads, otherwise the same. The other end is the one that matters, and so long as you're sure you've turned the screw out as many times as the others, it will be fine.
 
In my experience the threads are some carbs/screws are better than others, so I suspect that one screw is just not screwed down all the way. Unfortunately, there is risk with screwing down the fuel screws by feel since you may jam the tip into the carb body too hard and break it off.

I'd try Mike's suggestion to see what happens. If you do decide to force that one screw down then maybe look with a flashlight and magnifier to watch to see if the tip of the screw is poking down into the hole from the carb throat side? You need to watch close to make sure you are not seating the screw too hard which will break off the tip.
 
I did swaP them around and not much difference. When seated I can see the tips so I think they are ok. However some kind of look more "necked" on the taper, could be just shinier tho I didn't measure. I may just order new and be safe. Sorting thru my carb issues I'm questioning everything. Thanks guys.
