    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Fuse Box guide, 1982 GS650

Hey everyone, I have a little concern. Hopefully someone will have a quick answer. Thanks in advance. I own a 1982 GS650G. It's an awesome bike, in great condition, runs beautifully. I've only had the bike about 4 months and I've been doing some checking up on minor things on the bike. I noticed that the fuse box under the seat has five slots, but I only have 4 fuses. I'm short one. I don't have an owners manual and cant seem to find much online. I want to know what each slot is for and what size of fuse I need for each slot. Does anyone know a link to an online owners manual? Or a diagram of the fuse box? Or does anyone have the manual that could tell me what each slot is for and what sizes I should have. I'd really appreciate this. Thanks.

Hi Mr. Tsommz,

You'll find lots of GS lovin' on my website, including a full service manual. The top fuse is 15 amp and the rest should be 10 amp. (Edit: It seems I should have looked at your manual first. See Mr. Steve's post below for proper fuse placement.) That last one may be an auxiliary, check your manual to be sure. Let's get started. :)

On the GS1000 the aux fuse is the bottom one and the 15 A goes just above this. None of my bikes have a fuse in the aux spot.

I'm pretty sure on my ED the AUX is fused just not switched.
 
At one end of the fuse box there will be two screws that are your AUX terminals.

Starting at the other end:
LIGHTS - powers the headlight, tail light and instrument lights
SIGNALS - powers the turn signals, horn, brake lights and warning lights (neutral, low oil pressure, etc.)
IGNITION - powers the coils and the ignitor, also provides power for the starter button to trigger the starter solenoid
MAIN - before the engine is running, provides power to the entire bike. After engine is running, protects the battery from the regulator
AUX - provides power to one of the screw terminals next to it. The other screw is a ground.

The MAIN should be a 15-amp fuse, all the others should be 10-amp.

There's actually a clear cover that snaps over the fuse box, and it has everything labeled....it says the fuse amps, and what each fuse does.

I guess you're missing this part?
My 82 650g has one.....
