A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello to my So. Cal. friends,

I just wanted to let you all know that I'll be doing some regular maintenance to my bike on Saturday. If you'd like to pick my brains (Warning! Slim pickings!) and look over my shoulder while I change oil and check valve clearances, feel free to drop by. I also need to check/clean my fusebox, take some charging system measurements, and I can show you the coil relay mod. If you'd like to hang, PM me and I'll give you directions.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I think I'd rather hang than watch you change your oil...

No doubt! :D

Dan, but you already know how to change your oil and adjust your valves. There are a couple of riders in our neck of the woods who may not have done it before.

I hope you're feeling better. You looked a little "under the weather" at the rally.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Well, thanks for the short notice.

Since you didn't give me enough time to get there, don't bother with the directions. :D

.

Didn't you just recently acquire some groovy carb tuning and syncing devices? I have some carbs that need some tuning and syncing....:D

If I leave right now...I may make it in time. :p I'll let you reset my valves as by the time I got out there, it would need it again. :( :D

Hi Mr. C.V.,

As a matter of fact, I did! Would you like to be my first victim,...uh, guinea pig,...um, test subject,...er, client? ;)

Come on up. I'm going to wait for my new carb boots and O-rings before I do my bike. I'll practice on yours. :p

And I'm sorry for the short notice. Steve, Dave, I promise I'll give you guys at least a week's notice so that you can make it out here in time. Basically, head West. Just before you get to the ocean, turn left. :D

I'd love to head over and learn and lend a hand but the worm hole generator is down again. Seems that the darn thing needs a new battery, a good carb cleaning and a new supply of Roentgenium. :(

Best of luck!

 Back up to 100% from about yesterday thanks Cliff. I looked a lot worse at the last Gas stop in Costa Mesa! :)

Garage day is a great idea by the way, bit like Joe Nardy's Tyre changing orgy.... :)

Hi,

Thanks to Ray (rapidray) for driving up and making sure I gave Dan (Gixxer Dan) the straight poop when it comes to checking and adjusting valve clearances. I also replaced the valve cover bolts with hex heads, installed new plugs, changed my oil and unplugged the drain hole in my airbox.

Ray was going to help me sync the carbs but since I didn't change any shims (after 7000 miles!) there really was no need. Only 3 clearances tightened up by .01mm. I'd say this motor is pretty stable. Here's a picture.

I've recently ordered new carb boots and O-rings and a bunch of other stuff. When that stuff gets here we're really going to party! :dancing:

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Cliff, it was great to see you again & it was good to meet Dan also! Have a wonderful Easter! Ray.

I was going to come over this AM and supervise ! but I went to bed last night not feeling well. Slept in until 12 noon

I had a wonderful time hanging out with BassCliff and RapidRay for garage day. It greatly satisfied my indulgence for knowledge on checking valves :D I will definitely have more confidence doing my valve clearance checks this weekend without screwing things up to much. Now anyone up for some GMR riding?:dancing:
