    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

gas gauge backwards?

It seems my gas guage is reading the amount backwards I think. I feel it up and it goes all way to E bigtime. I have only filled it up twice so far so I am not sure exactly what it is doing the whole time through a entire tank. I thought it jumped and was stuck because it seemed to change to just over half full one day? not sure what happened there. I thought it might just be easy enough to check bullet connectors from tank to harness and the colors were correct but I tried anyhow and it did not change the gauge reading. any suggestions? not sure what has happened to tank in past. It was off bike when I got it but It did not seem anything was done to tank they were just looking at coils. It does seem to work because today I filled it all way up and it changed from just in red area to bounce up quickly to full empty which is my full full. funny ?
 
would that be the same as just switching the bullet connectors to the main wiring like I did? ok will try teet thanks

No...It doesnt matter WHICH way you hook up the connections...its going to read either way. Whats likely happened is somehow the part in the tank is fritzing out, or got misadjusted...

If you take that thing out of the tank..(it just unbolts from underneath) You can actually set the gauge, thru trial and error, to make it read whatever you want. You can make it on "E" when you're actually empty, or you can make it on E when you go on reserve...etc..
The gauge on MY GS1000G is a little weird too, tho i havent messed with it yet. When i fill it up, it says full, but it goes to the red line REALLY quick, and just sits there for a long time... and goes on empty when im bone dry. Its just the float im sure. Another thing it will do at times is not read at all for a while after the bike has been started and running. ive had charging issues with this bike when I got it, so hopefully it hasnt screwed something up prior to that..but its easy enough to find out and fix.. Jethro had a nice thread on the gauge fixes i believe..

I stand corrected, your right.;) I remember mine had quite a bit of corrosion on them, and had a very poor connection. It would jump from full to mt all the time. it was a simple fix though with the writeup....the calibration of the float was a pain, but not too bad.
