A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

so I started up my bike i have been working on (81 GS750E) I rebuilt carbs with o-rings and dipped them and blew them out with air the carb cleaner, new air filter, sparks, battery, valve adjustment. so i start it up and bang it starts right up no problems. then i shut it down and looked down to see it leaking I looked and it was gas coming from the header. :-k So I checked the spark plug and it sure enough is firing. So its obviously getting fuel, and spark, and the air box is off so...now im just confuessed my next guess was compression but my tester doesnt have an adapter to fit my holes so I just put some marvel mystery oil in there for tonight i figured it cant hurt any thing.

PS how do I mount the idle control cause I cant figure it out i have 3 racks of carbs 1 from a 650 and 1 from a 550 so the mounts for the carbs are diff so i cant figure it out.

Thank you
Jake

Your petcock may be leaking down the vacuum line and into #2 where it connects to the carbs. A clear tube in place of the vacuum line is helpful to see if that is occuring.

Totally forgot about the vacuum line i just hooked it up and forgot about it running into carb two...funny thanks for the reminder Nessism.

The idle control knob should be on the "gang bracket" for the rack itself. IIRC...there are two screws that hold it to the main bracket and not the carb bodies, but it has been awhile...:-k

Have a look: http://www.bikebandit.com/1981-suzuki-motorcycle-gs750ex/o/m6107

my problem is I have the bracket that you bolt into the bowl but i cant see the other bracket on this image. I already tried looking at this exact chart and couldnt get it....

the main bracket on the bottom of the carbs doesnt have anything to hook the idle control up to. so i dont know what to do.

If you would post some high resolution photos of your carbs so we can see what's going on that would help greatly.

That piece holding the adjustment screw should be held in place with that rusty drain bowl screw. The adjustment screw then threads into a piece on the throttle shaft.

there is no piece on the throttle shaft that i can screw it into. thats my problem. normally there is a mound like in my other pics i uploaded that it screws into but no on this bike so im confused.

If you go to this link and click on CARBURETOR, then look at the Large Image, it is part #59. Unfortunately, it is listed as discontinued.

Looks like he has #59, but either #55 or #23 are missing/wrong.

yeah I dont remember that part from taking them apart. and deff done have ti lying around. uh oh....:o
