A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I decided to update the guages on my 82 GS750E. First step in taking it apart was to repaint the case Krylon Ultra-Flat Black. It really gives it an OEM appearance. Once inside I used a House of Kolor Red to revive the tach and all needles. A few needles broke from being very brittle, but superglue (and an instant superglue agent) helped solve the problem. I also painted the bezel inside a metallic silver. Came out looking 1000% better.

I'll try to get some better pics tommorrow.

How did you get the white lettering to look new? You paint that by hand???

The white wasn't that bad. The needles and the red print on the tach were completely faded and that's all I painted on the gauges themselves. The trim ring on the inside is now silver as well. Thats the extent of the paint internally. Outside, I painted the case as well as the letters "IGNITION" Cleaning the lenses with windex really helped.

Here is OEM. You can see how the needles are orange vs the new red:

How did you get inside the gages? I like the red needles, but as far as I know, the gages are sealed on my bike.

I had to get a small flathead screwdriver and pry up the edge of the metal ring that surrounds the gauge. I just worked my way around prying a little at a time until I could pull it off. Even if the edges are beat up, it's not visable when assembled. Just don't turn the ring into an oval or something. lol

hmmm...must be your gages are of a different design than mine. Maybe not, I'll have to look for a metal ring. Mine appear to have the gage face (clear part) permanently attached to the body. I like the look of your though. If I can get in there, I may try to make a new clock face...
