I broke off the right ear of my gear indicator switch. I tried to use a hand made retaining ring to retain it around the switch, but about 1/4" of the switch ear was gone and had no pressure on the o-ring, therefore a small oil leak. I hate any leaks. Referring to my beloved Haynes Manual, page 63, GIS[#42]. If I was to remove GIS[#42], and replace it with a correct size handmade plate of the same dimension, I think it would work. But my main concern is removing p/n 47 & 48 [gear position contact pin & spring] I can can easily live without a gear "position indicator". But can ANY damage be incured by NOT having the "gear position contact pin & spring", in place?
