DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey all-

What's the gear oil change interval for our GS's? (Primary and Final drive, I have a shaftie..)

I just put fresh dino gear oil in both, now I think I might have wanted to go with synthetic.

Not to beat a dead horse, but has anyone noticed any difference at all using synth gear oil in their machines?

It will not hurt at all to do a full change at the beginning or each season. Any concerns about condensation or oil breakdown are dealt with that way. The quantity of oil is not great, so it is more a convenience issue.

The oil has a much longer life expectancy, so you only need to do a change after a few years, as most riders do not log many miles per year, and will not beat the life out of the oil, especially in the final drive.

Concerns about condensation and a few other items fit in due to the time factor. It is a good idea to make regular changes of all oils on your bike, using good quality lubricants .

I have not used synthetics in the gears. Since I have no experience, I offer no comment on them.

With old seals I would use dino gear lube If the motor is fresh with new seals in the lower end synthetic would be ok
