    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

You can find the Suzuki Shop Manual for the GS850G right here. Just right-click and "Save as...".

I'm not sure how long that link will be active. It may depend on how much traffic it generates. Get it while the getting's good!

As long as I don't get a million hits for the download, the link can probably be fairly permanent. The boss was saying recently that if we can use more bandwidth he will be able to justify writing a proposal to the district for a fatter internet pipe. So, download away!

It's "only" 454 pages! That's only a ream of paper, about $13 or less at most office stores. I guess you could halve that if you printed duplex. I like printing out just the pages I need to work on a particular project. But I suppose if you printed the whole thing, at least it would make interesting bathroom reading material. :oops:

I use a product I downloaded off the internet called "Fineprint." ... not that expensive and worth EVERY penny! It allows you to print multiple pages (you decide how many) on a single sheet of paper AND it remains VERY readable. I've printed as many as eight sheets on a single page - THAT requires very good eyes, but more commonly I'll do four pages a sheet AND duplex! that's only 57 sheets of paper to do the whole job!

If you need extra magnification for a particular job you just print up the individual page you need!

I printed it out at work ;) Got a funny look from the boss but ohwell. I wanted a hard copy I like to read these things at night and this thing ROCKS. I already skimmed it. Way better than any Clymer/Hayes. Thanks for the hook up!

I'm on dial up. It says the download will take 14 hrs. I am assuming that burning this onto a CD and then mailing it to me would be some kind of copyright infringement, right?
 
Thank you very much Mr. BassCliff. I just want to say that me "a newb" is really thankfull for having a site like this where a "GS"..... is like a second language that most of you speak fluently and can translate into english for the rest of us. Thank you again. BTW who is "the boss"??

You are welcome very much Mr. Johnny K. I, too, am learning to speak "GS" with the help of all the good people here.

"The boss" is literally my boss at work. I have some space at work to host some material and make it available to the web. As long as I'm trying to suck up bandwidth, all of you geeky types out there may appreciate my collection of freeware located in a virtual spot I like to call "Cliff's Space". All of this free software is Cliff-tested and Cliff-approved. (Disclaimer: Cliff is not responsible for any misuse, damage, or data loss caused by this software. Even though I don't have an 850, I decided to download it. Now that I have the manual, I suppose I'll have to start looking for an 850 I can use it on.
 
I have just changed my oil and filter yesterday and I don't know if this is true all the time but when you drain the oil from the 21mm plug and when it is done draining u plug it back up. Then go and change the filter with oil comming out as well. When I put the new filter back in and cover on, I wanted to clean the drain plug more and thought that if i took it out, no oil would come out, but a good amount actually came out. I guess that's my input is that once you change the filter, there could be more oil possibly now that you let "air" in from the other end???? I could be wrong on this as a newb, but that was my experience yesterday.

Mr. Johnny K,

That's a great point and I did consider it. I think I wanted to remind the reader to put the plug back in before I forgot to remind the reader to put the plug back in. :confused: I didn't want the reader to pour in new oil without first replacing the drain plug. I've done that before. :oops:

On my next edit I'll make a note of your suggestion. I appreciate your time.
