All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Gettin there, sloooowly...

Really good guys, and very knowledgeable about what you want to do.
( they refer to this site often, so i hope the admins dont mind my link:))

it is what you are looking for...
Yeah, Im on there also, just a handful of GS guys over there, but lots of talent. I'm in Harrison, just west of ya.

I went over to the thechopperunderground.com web site just to take a look at the talent on the other side of the street. Your right it does look like a couple of them know what there doing but for some reason most of the projects either look like they were 70's freek shows with lots of gold paint and chrome or the cool looking bikes had owners with Adult ADD. I just wish some of those guys that are cutting up the bikes would finish a project. The one guy works out of a shed and had 5 bikes (all unfinished) sitting in there. So in that aspect I can agree with Groundshock, hell there is a guy on craigslist right now with an unfinished "chopper" that wants almost a 1000 bucks because he lost interest. I think that these people should not cut up a bike if they are not going to finish the job and actually put them back on the road.

Your project looks cool and I would love to see the finished product so do us a favor and don't lose interest....just my 2cents

po-boy, this thread has become the straw that broke the camels back:D

Yea, oops! Just wanted to share some pics of my lil project and BAM, a political debate on the downfall of the male species. Oh well, I'm gonna finfish it, with or without the approval of others.

Got the week off and doin some work on the bike, me time, gotta love that... Tailight from old oil can and original mount, oil tank(aka battery/electronics box), watering can w/ some tweaking, total cost= <$5...

Hey Elevatorman, whats the measurement, center to center, on yur struts? Mine are gonna be 8-1/2" but doesn't look as low as yours. Love the stance yours has...

Nicely done, DuDe. I planning to chop my basket case than to get it back to original.
I never thought of using the swing arm for part of the hard tail. I am glad I found this site.

Its lookin good just keep chippin away at it and youll get there.

More pics, more progress...

Day 2 of vacation, almost looks like a bike again, almost.

Love that color! Did you paint that or farm it out?
Thanks,
Dupli-color rattle can, yeah, did it myself. In those pics the tank and fork lowers haven't been cleared yet. Tank will get flames to match the fender. It's deffinately a "ten foot" paint job. This tank looked like someone turned a 4 yr old loose w/ a ball-peen hammer! Hours of fillin, sandin, primin and still gives ya a subtle, friendly wave when ya get close.

Can`t help thinking that the biking world would be a boring place if everyone rode stock machines. I have a stock GS750 and another that I chopped, guess which one gets the most interest when its parked up anyplace !. It certainly won`t win any prizes thats for sure, but I like it and at the end of the day thats what counts. There are plenty of classic clubs for the purists where they can be sure the bikes have exactly the original phillips screw heads or shade of paint. Don`t get me wrong, I like to see stock machines too, but if the owner wants to modify it, why not ?.

Hey, Po-boy, I like your bike. If you need any help putting a good automotive clear on there, let me know. I live in Love-land. Not too far down 275.

Thanks PB, I might take you up on that offer. I've not heard any long term success w/ rattlecan clear on the tank. Seems like gas takes its toll fairly quickly...

I like that color too. Keep going your almost there.
Thanks,
It's a lil more copper than I wanted but looks OK after it's cleared. Rattle cans kinda limit your color choice unless you go w/ the custom mixed stuff, too much $$$ for this build.

"new" turn signals...

"new" turn signals...

Look kinda like school bus signals, but heh, they were free and look better than the 6" stems and pitted chrome.
