A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Gettin there, sloooowly...

will there be any noticible differences when i get it running like a different motor sound? more hp? more torque?

No, it wont really sound much different. Maybe a bit deeper, since it is a litre+ motor. More HP yes, and more torque.

Finally started on the engine...

Finally started on the engine...

Finally got the engine tore down for gaskets, paint, plugs, fluid, etc...
Here's a pic of where it's at so far w/ the sproocket cover thrown in to give ya an idea where it started. Thinkin bout doin the cases, jugs and heads in the same color as the center of the stator/mag covers, then sandin the fins for a lil more contrast.

hey po-boy where you been would love an update on that sweet lookin chop:lol:

lookin great. Didn't realize you tore it down that far. Scary!
The front needs to come down to at least the top of those boots. So the frame will sit more level. I still need to do mine, so....
In all your moving forward on schedule, if I remeber you goal correct. Best of luck to you and chop on!

Thanks BK. Yeah I agree on the lower the front end thing but I'm tryin to keep just a hint of the 70's chopper look here. It doesn't really look that high in the front w motor/pipes in. So far, I'm about $250 on the budget and have a complete bike to sell off as parts. Tryin to come in under $500. Tires will take a chunk of that, but still on track $ wise.

you can get some drop out off the front end for free by sliding the forks up in the triple trees a little bit 1-2"

Already done in the latest side shot, only have 1/4" between bars and top of the tubes.. The p.o. had installed 6" over forks by Franks, hence the raised front.

I just had a dirty thought. Why not rake the front out and go digger style? Nobodies doing that! Then you could slide the forks down and be cooler than any one.

Yeah, I've had that same dirty thought, just keep talkin myself out of it? The frame still hasn't been stripped/painted, so it's not too late, huhmmmm...

Digger damn it! :D Im doing it to mine. Just waiting on my rims to show so I can lace um and true um. that way I can get the stance right. I still havent yanked the engine, gonna use it to keep everything true frame wise while I do my cutting. Looking good.

All depends on the condition I guess, so many variables. I just picked up this 81, 750L Sunday for $100! Rode it around the alley before we loaded it up... I'll be strippin off the parts I need and sellin off whats left. Went to buy just the carbs, kid said gimme $100 and you can have the whole thing, Ah sure I said.

hey do you still have the exhaust of that bike or are you using it? if not how much would you want for just the headers?

Goin real slow... Been a busy summer but have managed to keep pluggin away, doin little things here and there on the frame etc. Still gonna finish it up this year if it (or the wife) kills me. On the exhaust, I'm using the head pipes, everything else was swiss cheesed w/ rust, so they went to the curb...

hey man i just purchased an 1100 for 300 dollars and the motor inly had a little over 7000 miles on it and already swapped it over just need to do some elecrical work and replace a few things and off to ride i go!

sounds good man just got the frame done on mine need a little bracing and seat mount then it is onto wiring.
