A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Getting the Cooley ready for another season

Street Strokers were the sh-t when they came out. I lusted after them but never sprung for them because at the time were spendy. They look so right on your bike. That's why I went with Honda 1100F shocks on mine, too..period (sort of) correct, and they actually work better then people would think. I can see upgrading if it were to be on a race track, but for street riding, they're still the..well, you know..

I do a lot riding where I push the bike for sure... but I like the ride of the bike the way it is... one thing I did to it was add Sonic for springs up front. Now that made a huge difference! Highly recommend that upgrade.

The Cooley has been getting some needed maintenance in the last month..valve adjustment, new plugs, carbs dissembled and cleaned, stainless steel brake lines, rear pads, took the windscreen off the fairing and wet sanded and polished it...came out great!
Also ordered new hardware for it...
Of course a big shout out to Rob and Mark for their help...they work cheap...beer and coca cola... lol

Nice job Trevor and WOW you got black screws, the last batch I ordered came chrome plated, where did you order from?

David.

ill let you in on a little secret... lol... they are actually plastic Yamaha screws that look identical to the original metal ones from Suzuki....I too could not get the originals. Bonus is that they are plastic so they won?t crack the shield..they are the same size thread and I used the original nuts for them. I can get you a parr?s number if you like.

Third set for me...he has been right on the money....Raymond 416-900-2594 raymond@apexbrakes.com

Thanks Trevor - another for for you for GS Member of the month! I've emailed Raymond to see which is the best way to go. I am currently restoring a GS650G 82 from the frame up and want it to be right. I actually have a second (parts bike) that I'll likely restore too so if the prices is right I'll order two sets from him. I was interested to hear that there's build up in the old lines - scale is how he referred to it as. This makes me think I may replace the lines on the other bikes I have too.

Enjoy the cold & snow over there on the Island ... Surrey is snowless!

The Yamaha #'s would be appreciated.
I am using old Lockhart-Phillips screws and bolts.

Myra, I?m not used to this weather... we got about 6cm on the ground...it?s too cold for it to go anywhere too... and we have more in the forecast. :( ..time to catch up on maintenance issues and garage organizing.

Spoke too soon, we have a foot of snow and more on the way. Years ago I bought a good size snowblower and so now I am the hero of the street albeit only a few days out of the year as I clear the cul du sac for all the neighbours (Canadian spelling) 😀❄️🇨🇦

Ordered and paid paid for the brake lines from Apex today, Raymond is very helpful and has the specs on hand for the GS650G so that made it super easy. Thanks again for the lead!

Funny, I too live on a cul du sac (proper spelling lol)...and today I borrowed my neighbour's (also correct spelling) snowblower because he is in Mexico and I did 6 of my neighbour's driveways today...got homemade cookies and beer from them...lol...plus I made a huge toboggan run in my driveway for the kids. Up to 25cm more to come. :(

Twenty five centimeters !!! .... It's the end of the world Trev !!!

Wonder if you could rig a snowblower up with GS1100 engine? I would be done much quicker. Maybe a good winter project for next year.

It's crazy...schools are all ready cancelled for tomorrow....my 16 year old son is all broke up about it.

Welcome to Canada! But what's with the schools closing over a bit of snow?

It's Victoria....it doesn't take much snow to bring it to a standstill. Lol....to be fair. the problem is is that it doesn't get cold enough and the roads are slick...and we have all kinds of little hills around here that cars with out snow rated tires can't navigate....it's quite funny. :)

You should see it here. There's only about 3 inches and downtown is chaos. Skytrain is shut down and the buses are sliding all over the place. When it comes to snow in Vancouver the city becomes..... " Oh my Gawd ! .. Is that snow ? ...We're all gonna die ! " .....

My front yard last night...before we got another 15-20cm...and it's snowing until 5pm now....

Yup, no riding in our future... at least the near future. This is my yard this afternoon after I finished shovelling my driveway.

My daughter likes it anyway.

Wow Dave. That'll take a while to melt. You guys actually own snowblowers down there? Thankfully our snow here is the nice light and fluffy stuff.
