DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 1980 gs550 and it has the 4 to 1 Mac on it that I'm not a fan of really. I was wondering what exhaust system are good for this bike, kind of what so
Something with a little more throat but still keep the back pressure.

Marving and Marshall make pipes for the 550's still. Marving is on Vacation for the entire month of August. So if you oder a pipe now, you won't have it until Oct........
SO, at this time, MAC and Marshall are the only choices, if you want something soon. The Marving 4 into 1 race system is AWESOME though !!! I will order one for mine over the winter months ....

Gotgixers, would you please provide a link to the Marshall pipes you are talking about? I had done a lot of searching over the last couple of years and found that only MAC provides pipes for the 550s

do a google or Yahoo search for Marshall Deeptone .....I'm at work and kinda busy right now cowboy ...

Thanks HH, I'd looked at the laser-exhausts site earlier but didn't find anything for the 550 so maybe I missed it. The Marving site says they do but I'm concerned on the fit since it's also saying the newer 500. I'll have to email them and see but it would still be another year or two for mine.

Hope you can find one for yourself there Wicked

The Marving site says they do but I'm concerned on the fit since it's also saying the newer 500.

It's maybe not the newer 500 (the twin) that you are thinking of - some European countries (not us) got the GS550 4 cylinder as a 500/4 to fit tax laws. The bike is identical apart from a smaller cylinder bore and side panel badges.

The Marving will fit a 550/4 and the pipe is in current production. So will the Marshall, though I have heard they are dropping some bikes from their range.

I'm not sure about the fitting on a 550T or L though; that may need a bracket modification for the silencer.
