    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey Guys & Gals.

Does anyone know if the MK1 or MK2 Gsxf Bandit 600 and/or 1200 parts fit any of the following gs's :confused:

(Non Cruiser versions)
GS750
GS850
GS1000

I know that more or less most parts fit each other with some "attention" and machining, but this is a serious question as it determines whether what other parts i can use on my GS850


From a distance and been holding an actual GSXF 600 downpipe from a scrapyard to my GS looks like it would fit..
Same with Air Filters, Headlamps and Tail lights..

I've stared, envisioned and matched measurements of the bandit to the GS and the engine honestly looks the same (unless i'm missing something).

Almost nothing will interchange directly, but some things can be made to fit if you want to remanufacture them.

You might want to detail what specific parts you are interested in transplanting. There are a lot of different parts on these bikes, and your question is too general to answer properly.
 
I have it on good authority that you can use the same air to fill the tires on both bikes, and that they take similar gas.

Beyond that, ...

Sure, i can specify..

The Exhaust downpipe.

Tail light (I'll be more specific with which year and model bike tailight, i'm talking about within the hour, i have a meeting in a few minutes)
Headlight
Air Filter
& Starter Motor
Indicator & Brake Relays (been studying motorcycle electrics for 3 months only - go easy on me)

(making brackets to make them fit, isn't the problem.. its more along the lines of "Could it fit without me fiddling with it to much?")

It's Supremely easy to get Bandit parts, electrics, mechanical and non mechanical - Customising the electrics to work with the GS isn't that hard..

Tone (old member on here) put a B12 exhaust header on his GS1000 with some modification - port spacing is the same but if I remember correctly there were clearance problems under the sump.

The headlight will fit and so will the indicator & brake relays (though they will need some fiddling with).

The rest of the stuff won't fit very easily, if at all.

Honestly.. thank you to everyone that replied!!

the exhaust did fit but it rattled to high heaven(scary but funny)

Thanks for telling me that the headlight and some relays match as that saved me 2 weeks of parts hunting :)

so now.. I just have to find the b12 headlight with the built-in idiot lights and original bandit clocks :)

its a real shame the braking mechanicals won't swap though.... :/

:( unfortunately..no.

I didn't think to take photos and catalogue the tiny idea, I just thought for 5 mins since they looked the same, I figured they'd swap.

the exhaust to engine summy area around 4-5 mil clearance, but that made the headers harder to put and stay in so i used some of that exhaust heat wrap, but shamferd (trimmed) some material off the exhaust port maintenance rings..

(took 5-7 mins)

so they would atleast rub a bit, then tightened.

Got some plumbers testing liquid (forgot what its called but use it for looking for gas leaks)

no air bubbles...
and took burny for a test run...

Got upto 40mph and she started to rattle like a cold mans' teeth chattering so I pulled over and that was it, to be honest..

that was an interesting Friday morning..bit scary as I think i almost killed my bike..

Although now that I've had a fiddle..

you could wrap the area you want..with heat wrap and slide rubber under there or a kind of vibration absorber and force clearance but I can see drawbacks..

as you know hot metal can do all sorts of forced wear and tear... :(
