DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well he conventional lead acid battery for the 1000 has taken her last starter for a spin.

I want to go with the sealed AGM so theres no more acid leak scale stuff. So whats the majority vote for the best size to replace with. Got a part number for a good replacement? What companies are good to deal with?

well I have used search with such things a AGM...Sealed battery..etc etc. I may have missed it, but I hadn't seen any specific part numbers for any AGM batteries..I assume the newer AGM part numbers aren't gonna be the same as the stock YT14L that is in there now...am I correct to assume this?

I ask because I sure am not a "battery " expert.

$100.00 for the one in Cliffs link...will copy and search for the company George listed. I don't have much experience with replacing the lead acids with the sealed AGMs. Usually just take a bad one in for the same replacement, but I don't like the white stuff that always seems to start the corrosion.

Goona remove and repaint the battery box before a new battery goes in too.

Hi Chuck
Last year I bought one from advanced auto. They looked it right up for a replacement for my 81 750 L.
Most any auto/tractor/battery store should be able to look up your old battery number and fit you a replacement.
It was a extreme magna power, from power sports.
The model was ETX15L, you may use a different battery in your bike.
!It cost me around $20 more then a regular battery and I have been very happy with it.
Beside the fact that it will not spill, it will hold a charge for a very long time. My bike sat all winter and a good part of the spring this year due to work being done without much money to get it done, and the battery still had enough charge to get her started without a choke cable and just prime and turning over for a bit.
To me it was a great spend on the extra $20 bucks and for anybody that does not get a chance to ride much they would be even happier.
I hope this helps some.

Cost is the issue right now for me..I have used this battery in all the bikes...swap inti whatever one I choose to ride.

But its old and just has the last heartbeats used up. So another one is needed and I don't want to be without a bike based on an exorbinant price to replace it either.
