A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is there any reasoni that a 4-1 pipe made to fit a 1980 1000G wouldn't work on a "79 "S"? Marshall Deeptone makes a chrome exhaust that is supposed to sound and look great. I just want to make sure that it will mount properly on the rear of the bike.

Thanks.

I dont have any idea about the fitment of the pipes in which you're referring to. But I would like to know if you plan to sell a factory exhaust system?
If so I would be very interested!

Not sure about the gs1000g but when I tried an exhaust from my gs1000e on my gs850 it went nowhere near either at the headers or the back of the frame. If the 1000G frame is the same as the 850 then I doubt the exhaust would fit.

The front is no problem, since it's the same top end

The rear is questionable

If your check the euro site, they have one for a GS 1000 E, so I'm guessing the G mount is different

Why don't you email them and find out?

No, I'm just looking to replace an old Kerker. Sorry.

I did, we'll see what they say. Do you have the link for the Euro site? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks.

I had a 1000G with stock 1000E pipes on it... then swapped them for a 4:1 from Vance & Hines made for a 1000E.

The angle at the head is slightly different so the 1000E pipes sat down a bit further from the frame (holding the centre stand & sidestand off their stops a half inch or so). Also needed a link to join the mounting points at the back, was about 2" long.

The V&H fit fine but I needed a linking piece for it at the back again.

Dan :)

Bob...I got that like new Vand H chrome megaphone style for the S..The po gave it with the bike when I bought it and its not gonna go on anything I have.
