Hello, folks,

I've won an S fairing some time ago on fleabay but I would like to find the correct brackets for mounting it on my '78 1000 E.
alternatively has someone got the dimensions for fabricating some?

See my Wes cooley bracket topic.
They are easy to do when one has a patern.

Fairing brackets

Fairing brackets

Thanks coolshaft,

I will be making some brackets up from scratch.

Pardon my bad english but to me fender and fairing are different parts or am I wrong?

These are the parts you need and they are available from pretty much any Suzuki parts distributor, the prices vary a little but here are the part numbers you need:

51458-49741-291 guide cowling right ....$8.50
51468-49741-291 guide cowling left ....$8.50
94510-49001 bracket cowling....27.25
94520-49001 bracket cowling ....27.25
94573-49000 cushing cowling [2] needed

In order to mount the Wes Cooley style fairing to my '82 GS1100EZ I originally ordered these parts, turns out that the dimensions were different (of course, they were made for a GS1000) so I ended up using them as patterns to fabricate my own brackets.

My point is, rather than fabricating the brackets it's easier to buy the brackets that are specifically made for your bike and they look very nice. I got lucky in the way mine turned out but again I had the the originals to use as patterns. Take a look at my photo album there are pictures there that might help.

Here's a link to a posting I did showing what I did to mount my Wes Cooley

Hope this helps.

Living in USA is easy and the brackets plus postage is or should be cheap.
Postage to where I Live was USA$110 on it's own, hence my decision to go another way about it.
In the end the result is that my fairing and reservoir fit well.
Now for the mirrors as I tried the RG500 mirrors and they do fit nicely as well but I do not have a spare set.
So a set of "Wes Cooley" mirrors are required

Pictures please and a PM of total cost sending these down under woud be appreciated very much.

I orderd a set of these to get it over the licence pitts here in Aus, but a set of genuine mirrors would be nice

Sorry someone already made an offer. If it falls through I'll get back to you. I'm parting out a complete GS1000S so do you need anything else?

LHS and RHS switch blocks if you have.
Mine are Yamaha ones who are grafted into wiring loom.
I picked up 2 nice GS 1000 wiring looms while on my trip to Melbourne Phillip Island circuit;for the Australian Historic national road race championship.
Took a fair few pictures of this event.
2 of these McIntosh GS1000 race bikes were there plus the creator of this wonderfull machine.

Just a quick update on this to save other people the trouble; I think I've tried every Suzuki parts distributor in (English speaking) world at this point, and none has any GS1000s fairing brackets in stock. Some say they do on their auto-website thing, but in practice don't.

I've tried:
Babbits (US)
Alphasport (US)
Robinson's (UK)
Crooks (UK)
McCullough (Oz)
Suzisport (Oz)

All have them discontinued and out of stock on the official systems. Reckon there's a bit of a Wes Cooley craze going on.

I've rang round a few breakers too with no joy. Reckon I'll be making some myself!
