A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

ok the oil seal for my clutch pushrod is leaking i have an 80 motor gs450.the only place i could find who has the part was the dealer now the bike was an 81 i swaped the engin for an 80 engin. i noticed that the 81 motor has a retainer clip for the seal the 80 motor does not are the seals the same or should i call the dealer and tell them its an 80 motor so i dont get the wrong part

There are two types of 450 clutch pushrod seals - with flange and without. Go to Alpha Sport and look up the part numbers for yourself and then go to the deal to order.

Hi!
My experience is to be wary about the flanged seal. If I remember correctly my -81 GS450 should have a flanged one - but this required splitting the cases to install. I therefore used a straight one. Of cource I also had the retaining plate in front of it.

will the straight seal work without the retainer i dont want to split the cases if i dont have to

Short answer: I have no idea (someone else?)

But...
Without the retainer there is very little holding a straight seal in place
Maybe it works, maybe it don't
