If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi guys.
New guy from denmark here!
I have a gs550 from 77/78 and i wonder if a gs650 engine will fit My 550 frame :) og do the topend fit My 550 engine?
I Hope the information where enough. :)

And will i be able to convert the 650 engine to kickstart from My 550?

Hi there, the gs650 engine will not go in the gs550 frame or not with out a lot of ****ing because of the shaft.
The gs650 top end will go on the gs550 bottom end.

Hi thanks for the fast reply :)
So it should be an easy fix to put the 650 cylinder and top on My 550 Block?

Hold on a minute here.

Is your 650 engine chain drive or shaft drive

Then yes the 650 engine will fit you'll just end up with a 5 speed instead of a 6 speed. Lot less work than doing the topend swap. Don't worry about the kickstarter, you don't need one.

Defining detail..... Way more powerful than it was as a 550. Quicker, higher top speed and gets there a lot easier, chugs around slowly, you can whack the throttle open at 2,000 RPM in 6th gear and it chugs right out, or you can kick it down a few gears and scream it at 10,000, either way it's a lot more powerful than the 550 was doing the same thing. Its gone from a wimpy little bike with a great top end kick to a really useful motorcycle that pulls hard anywhere and everywhere.
You want a picture? I'll post one as soon as photobucket gets back up.

Not all that easy. You have to split the cases to hog the upper one out for the 650 cylinder's bigger sleeve diameter. Quite a bit of metal had to be ground away.

I think i will buy and put the complete 650 engine from 83 on My 550 frame from 77/78 i think and just miss My kickstarter :/
