    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How do I adjust the front brake light switch. No matter how hard I hold the front brake the light doesn't come on. Thanks for the suggestions

There is a switch under the lever with two small phillips head screws holding it in place. Loosen them and try sliding the assembly to see if the light starts working. You probably need to spray it with contact cleaner, they get gummed up. Be careful if you take it apart. There is a U-shaped copper piece and a tiny spring that can go flying and get lost. If the switch is toast the best bet is a banjo bolt with a pressure switch built in.

Maybe second-best, but certainly cheaper, is moving the clutch safety switch over to the other side of the handlebars. You can bypass the clutch switch inside the headllight shell and use the guts of the switch on the brake side. :D

The only downside of this is absolutely making sure it's in neutral before starting, or just pulling the clutch anyway. :-k

That would work too. IIRC it's a yellow wire with a green tracer that you connect. They even have male and female connectors in the bucket to make it easy.

OK. I took the switch apart and cleaned the switch board. It turns the light on now, but it won't shut back off. Everything in the area is REALLY gummed up bad, so therefore the switch isn't moving like it should it just sticks. I really want to spray everything with brake clean, but I know the plastic won't like it. So were do I go from here.

You just have to slide the portion of the switch that the wires connect to one way or the other to adjust it.

Try some electrical contact cleaner
 
Ok. I'll try some contact cleaner and see if that helps.

I moved the tab and the light stays on. I'm sure it's just because everything is gummed up.
