A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hello all. I have just spent a few fruitless hours searching for a pilot box and chrome base plate for my 1100G instruments but instead, found some final drive hubs for various newer models that look very similar to the 850 and 1100 G hubs.
List as follows:
Suzuki VS1400 Intruder

Boulevard VL 800/C50

GV Cavalcade 1400

VS & VL 800 Intruder

Question......... In the interest of broadening tyre profile selections, has anyone tried mating wheels off the above models onto a 850 or 1100 G?

There was one project on here a while back, a lot of work but it was working out if that makes sense.... Haven't heard much about it for a while now.

Dan :)

Have you checked out the ratios on these later model diffs? The highest GS ones are the later 1100G's at 2.9-1.

I know that a GS850 rear wheel will mate to a VX800 rear end and vice-versa.

Why? I happen to have both in my garage, and was bored one day.

All this proves is that Suzuki NEVER re-engineers anything unless they absolutely have to, so sometimes there are some surprising coincidences.

For example, I also recently found out that a VX800 front fender bolts right on to a GS500.

With all that said, the swingarm and driveshaft setup is TOTALLY different on the two bikes -- the VX800 uses a much wider rear tire (150/70-17 vs 130/90-19) so there's not room for the newer wheel/tire on the older swingarm (the wheel mates up, but the tire hits the swingarm). And the wheel probably wouldn't be centered even if you could get it in there.

I bet there are some interesting substitutions and swaps possible, but you'd need access to a junkyard full of Suzuki shafties (my garage is starting to look like one...) to test them all out.
