    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS 850 Carb Rebuild

I recently bought a ?82 GS 850 GZ (US) with the Mikuni carbs. The bike set for about a year with gas in the carbs so I cleaned and rebuilt them using the ?carb cleanup series?. The series was great and I had no trouble at all. However, now that I have a nice set of shiney clean carbs, I have a couple of questions about how to get my bike running.

1. How do I set the Air Screws (as refered to on page on pg. 25 of the carb cleanup series.)?

2. Where do the hoses from the ?T? vents refered to on pg 3 of carb cleanup series terminate?

To get the bike started I'd start 1.5 to 2 turns out.
The vent hoses are routed over the airbox to open air so they can "vent" They drop down in between the carb airbox and the filter box.
 
I have the same bike (Well almost mines an 83) and I have my mixture screw out 2 turns. 1.5 was to lean for me but my bike has a crappy aftermarket exhaust :P

By rights the drain hoses go between the carbs OVER the air box down the little bracket behind the airbox and to the gap you will see. I on the other hand ran mine under the airbox two the second bracket and out.

Hello Mr. Bob Stith,

In this picture you will clearly see the vent hose from between #1 and #2 carb routed over the airbox and through the guide on the back side. The othe hose does the same thing on the other side. I hope this helps.

Yep, she's a pig right now. I haven't had the time to give her a decent bath lately. I'll have to make some time this weekend. The poor girl has been "rode hard and put away wet". 8-[

Besides, nobody ever looks under the seat and tank!
