If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I get lots of compliments on the sound of my Kerker.I like it for the performance.Just don't like the way it just "hangs down".Had mine for 5 yrs. or so,got it used w/the bike.Still shines up pretty good!! Just don't see many of em' out there anymore.Wish they were still in business...I also have a V&H pipe on my other GS1100,definately louder than the Kerker.

That is your baffles dood because they are the other way around for sure. Kerker pipes have always been louder than V&H pipes. At least the street megaphones have been that way. Most guys "in the day" that wanted more volume sold their V&H and bought Kerkers for just this reason. It was a common 17 year olds upgrade back then ;)

I've got a vintage Kerker, and I'm always the loudest Suzuki...for better or worse.

You are correct..

You are correct..

I just went out to look at the V&H baffles. They are in pretty bad shape.I just replaced the Kerker baffles a couple seasons ago...

Baffles....I got no baffles at all....I guess that explains that.

Years ago on my GS1000G I had an ALPHA pipe, but they went out of business, so I opted (in my view) for the best pipe, it's a 4-1 Harris, all chrome, it's expensive, but sounds great and greeeeat performance, BUT....Yes there is a but!!!!
You can ONLY buy it in the U.K and have it shipped to USA, total price with shipping is approx $650, but Well worth it!!!

might be.... www.harrisperformance.co.uk if thats not it. google it.

Thats the new stuff, I couldn't find the site, but check out this harris on this GS850...

No that is the norm Geoff. I install Jim's (Can-o-tuna) on his Kat when we were at the cliff house last year and the flanges did the same thing to me. I know how to install an exhaust system and figured Jim would think I was a newb when he saw them but what else was there to do? Also, Jim's exhaust is 1 year old now and I saw him comment that it already has the hereditary MAC rust cancer that they all get.

Again, that is why i said what I said, unless it is one of the vintage high quality ceramic coated pipes like you have they are not worth the money IMHO because in the case of these pipes you do not get what you pay for. Jim bought his out of necessity, they didn't have anything else that could be shipped there next day or I'll bet he would have got a better pipe.

My V&H is almost 15 years old and unless you look under it looks like it is about 1 or 2 years old. Money well spent.

You did a great job on the install Mark, thanks again. You are absolutely correct when you said I would have preferred a different pipe for $400, but with your help we made lemonade out of lemons on that day.

I can't really justify the $$ for another new pipe at this time, so I'll live with it, but someday I am going to get a better pipe.... if I was better at jetting I would buy a sidewinder to rip around town with :-D

I just ran out to the garage and shot this pic....I am going to write Dennis Kirk and MAC

What about a Star Racing pro pipe? Is this setup any good?

We also need to compare apples to apples...... Just so I have my facts straight, are we comparing a V&H chrome meg system to a black painted MAC ? If so, of course chrome will far outlast black paint.....

You are right, so maybe I should quit my bitching and just paint the dam thing. I like your setup, so maybe I will hunt around for a can and do something like you did.

It still ****es me off that it looks this crappy after such a short period of time.

You are correct. Very good point. I stereotyped I guess because you don't see as many black painted V&H pipes as you do the chrome ones even though they make them. The norm is usually a chrome V&H and a black painted MAC. Still, the black painted V&H pipes when compared to the MAC, well, look at Jim's pipes pic on the last page, that is what I have seen almost all MAC pipes do. I am not saying it hasn't happened but any V&H black pipes I have seen do not look like that after just one year. This is my beef with them man, they rust, rust, rust until they rot and fall apart. Just not worth it IMHO.

Chrome is great, reliable coating UNTIL it blues from improper jetting..... Once chrome is blued, generally speaking they are blued forever. Rust on black painted headers can simply be scotch-brite scuffed clean, than a quick coat of header paint, and it looks good as new.

Generally speaking I think the Mac quality a few notches below that of V&H.
